Watching one of your shows, it was mentioned that truck pulling is an obscure sport. It is not, and is televised weekly. Even watching the footage on your show, the people shown in and around the truck pull, anyone can tell but your narrator — he needs to brush up on what he’s talking about.
They had truck-pulling contests where I grew up — every year at the county fair.
Please email me the forensic factor show on the Fremont Bomber, Rodney Blach from 1998.
Thank you.
No luck finding a Forensic Files about him, but thanks for the calling attention to him — I just read up on the bombings. http://www.berkeleydailyplanet.com/issue/2001-06-02/article/5234
Hello, I’ve loved forensic files ever since I was younger. Thank you for this site detailing the crimes more elaborately. I’m glad someone has thought the way I did about this show. Words can’t seem as sincere online, but I am genuinely thankful. On to reading more!
So glad you’re enjoying the site — comments like yours make it all worthwhile!
Do you know of episodes that detail a murder that was committed outside in the middle of winter, with heavy snow or freezing rain? And how that investigation might be different from the same crime committed during a nice warm day.
Am trying to think of a case like that. With 400 episodes, Forensic Files must have one.
Frozen evidence, the guy was caught by footprints in snow.
Couldn’t find the “Just Sweats” gang on your Table of Contents.
Thanks for the heads-up — I’ll investigate.
Listened to an episode on 05 sept 2019 are at 7 pm est hln
how would I get the info on how to contact the police, newspaper reporter, etc involved in the case?
The surfer/wrestler who was stabbed to death.
Would love to read what you have to write about Dennis Salerno, who now has an online dating profile and other websites dedicated to his continued protestations of innocence. Season 12, Episode 8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhmhR-qfkug
OMG, he’s back on the prowl! Such a horrible catch for anyone.
Did you do a blog post on Dan Willoughby & Yesenia Patino by any chance, or plan to?
Not sure, but that was one crazy case.
Like so many of us, I enjoy searching the internet for updates on many FF episodes. Here’s a couple updates I discovered recently on some of the « supporting cast ».
There is an entire cottage industry dedicated to undermining bite mark evidence in general, and Dr. Lowell Levine in particular, who appears to have lost a lot of credibilty. Bite mark evidence no longer carries the weight it once did.
The second update is on Attorney Steve Keeney, the charming and folksy lawyer who helped bring McGuiness to justice for the murder of Donna Hartman who was pushed off a cliff at Big Sur. Keeney was suspended for 4 years from the practice of law in 2018, by the Kentucky Supreme Court, for breaching several ethical standards.
Mr Mike- That’s some terrible news! I heard a little about bite mark evidence but it is very uncannily they matched up in so many of the cases. What is the reasoning behind its discrediting?
Keeney seemed like a good guy, and I was happy he brought justice for Donna. I came here looking for info about the poor girl, being taken advantage of that way.
Love your site as it gives great thought-provoking material for post-episode ponderings!
I was wondering if you would do an article about “Nailed”, involving the assault and later murder of Dr Helena Greenwood. She was involved in the development of polymerase chain reaction and it was used to convict the murderer. Very poetic justice finale but, crucially to this era of heightened awareness of assault against women, an episode that illustrates some of the many reasons women don’t come forward when assaulted or raped, and what consequences they fear may and have happened for doing so.
Thank you — so glad you’re doing the blog! The Greenwood case was chilling and antithetical to the idea that there’s justice for rape victims. I definitely have the case on my list for recaps.
It definitely is, and I will be recommending the case to people who victim blame survivors of assault in the future. Glad to hear you’re planning on it! I’m continuing to enjoy the rest of your blog in the meantime as I binge FF on Netflix.
So in season 7 the episode called “Skeleton Key” made me think. In the early part of the investigation cops got a tenant list of the people who live or lived in the Freemont School apartments. They showed the list to the victim’s (Tamika) family and friends, and they said they recognized a name on it, Christopher Hampton apt. 215. So the cops questioned him and he said he knew her and thats it. Then Hamptons baby mother called the cops and gave the police his wallet which had a spec of blood in it which they tested and it belonged to Tamika. Then the narrator goes on and says that 14 months have passed and Tamika’s bf was no longer a suspect and that a young woman came forward and said she was with Hampton in is apartment and she noticed a stain on the carpet, so police obtained a warrant. After Hampton got evicted another family moved in there, but that’s besides the point. My question is how the hell did the police not get a warrant to search his apartment from the start, 14 months before, regardless if another family was living there? They searched the basement where the key A114 opened the door, so why not search Hamptons apartment after he was identified as living in the building, why wait 14 months till some next witness came forward and said she’d seen a stain on the carpet and it looked suspicious? In other episodes cops searched dwellings after people moved out and even if new people were living there. I just don’t understand how stupid and incompetent these cops were. I rewatched the episode just to make sure I had the details correct about the 14 month wait.
A murderer who isn’t listed on your site in the state of Virginia is Carson Edward Wolfe. He killed my great Aunt Anna Belle Ratcliffe, her son and daughter Edward Walton Ratcliffe Jr and Cynthia A Ratcliffe Wolfe in 1979. Cynthia was killed the day before her birthday. Carson Wolfe and Cynthia Ratcliffe-Wolfe had a son named Jason Wolfe who was raised by family members. I have the links to their graves listing on findagave.com. Cynthia’s has the newspaper article that was in the paper about the event that took place.

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/74725415/anna-belle-ratcliffe
Anna Belle, Cynthia & Edward all died on June 28th 1979. Anna Belle had another daughter named Roxanna and her throat was slit. She was just a baby at the time.
Anna Belle was the oldest of 6 siblings. Juanita Hartle, Trula Henley, Trubie Lambert, George Lambert, Leland Lambert & Raymond Lambert. Trubie Lambert is the youngest and he goes by the name Junior. Because he was named after their dad Trubie Bane Lambert Sr.
Carson Edward Wolfe is located in the Buckingham Correctional Center. The Wikipedia page for the prison is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckingham_Correctional_Center. He is 61 years of age and a white male. His offender I.D. # is 1162886.
Also missing is the episode about Earl Bramblett, who was executed in 2003 for murdering the Hodges family in Vinton, Virginia, back in 1994.
I’m making it a goal to read every single follow-up on this blog/site.
That’s what I like to hear!
Would love to see a thread on here about the Mold episode with Melinda Ballard and Ron & Reese Allison.
She left Ron, remarried, relocated to Charleston, and died about eight years ago at the age of 55. Had an almost impossible time finding info on her ex-husband and son.
Her first husband passed away before she had. I was curious and checked it out months ago.
Someone going by Joan Dykman edited the Wikipedia article on Melinda saying she died after a lung transplant done because she had mold growing in her lungs. They also said that Ron died in 2020 and the kid died in February 2021. There are no citations.
I scoured the Internet trying to find this information and haven’t been able to find anything on the husband and kid.
What intrigues me about Forensic Files is the role that science and technology play in solving mysteries that are not necessarily crime mysteries.
I’ve started following YouTube “shows” about dive teams searching for people who went missing with their cars. The Adventures With Purpose channel has it all – psychology, mapping technology, magnet “fishing,” sonar, diving in all kinds of conditions, and the technology involved with pulling cars out of the water. Viewers of Forensic Files will find their work fascinating. One case is Jimmy Amabile, who was found after being missing for almost 20 years.
Glad you wrote in with this — it does sound like a nice option for people who want the science without the murder & insurance fraud.
